After defining task goals it is necessary to establish a context for the learners to place the activity. What skills or knowledge have the learners acquired in the past that may be useful for this activity? Is there an introduction to the activity that helps learners access this knowledge?
- Relate the activity to previously studied concepts.
- Activate appropriate background knowledge at the beginning of the activity.
