About this site
This testing site was developed by the Center for Instructional Technology and Training (CITT) for the evaluation of instructional websites developed in accordance with our mission to "support University of Florida faculty in the implementation of technology to enhance and improve teaching, research and engagement."
The content of the site was developed by the Joint ADL Co-Lab in Orlando, Florida.
Background
In 1997, the Department of Defense (DoD) established the ADL (Advanced Distributed Learning) The goal of this organization was to ensure the timely delivery of high quality of education, customizable to the user in a cost-effective manner. In order to assist with the fullfillment of this goal, the DoD founded the Joint ADL Co-Lab in Orlando to develop guidelines for web-based instruction. These guidelines are arranged by topic, and checklists have been provided to facilitate testing and compliance.
The guideline compilation process considered technical elements such as the current Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) specification , along with theoretical elements such as established Instructional learning theory and psychology.
Tools
Two types of evaluation tools have been published to date:
- Usability Rating Scales (To be completed by the user/learner)
- Evaluation checklists (To be completed by the Instructional Designer and Web Development team)
Note
The content and structure of the checklists/rating scales remains faithful to the latest release made by the Joint ADL Co-Lab. The formatting, however, has been modified to correspond to the look and feel of this testing site. Furthermore, the form variables have been adjusted for future database incorporation.
