Positioning the Lysimeter

Make a receptive hole a couple of inches from container sidewall and extending to near container bottom. The receptive hole should be slightly smaller than lysimeter diameter. Below you will see images of the tools that are commonly used for this purpose.

One tool used to create a receptive hole for the lysimeter is the pipe.

A dowel may also be used to create a receptive hole for the lysimeter.

Another option is to utilize an auger.

Raise the lysimeter in a vertical position above the hole.

Place the lysimeter inside the receptive hole.
