Large Containers

Summary

The sample collection process should be repeated, as needed depending upon the reason for sampling. Nonetheless, each time you sample, be consistent with every step in the process to ensure you obtain meaningful results.

The following 5 steps outline the process required for nutritional testing of large container substrates.

  1. Locate 3 - 5 sample containers that are representative of the production area to be analyzed.
  2. Place a lysimeter in each container.
  3. Apply water so that substrate is wet throughout the entire volume. Collect the liquid in the lysimeter.
  4. Analyze the liquid in the field and/or in a lab setting.
  5. Interpret the results based on the objective or reason for sampling
